The surprising hack that’s literally getting me out of bed this Winter

There is no denying it’s officially winter (sad face) and here in Brisbane Australia, the days are noticeably shorter, darker, and SO much colder than I remember it being in previous years!!

That being said, as a summer baby, the winter months are always a little more challenging for me to do even the simplest of things- like getting out of bed in the morning, working out and even deciding what to wear!

It’s still dark at 5am (my usual wake up time) and the average temp is below 10 degrees! But you’ll be surprised when I share with you what’s currently motivating me to get out of bed.

Drum roll please….

OATS!

Now, I know what you are thinking. *Insert sarcastic tone*
“Oats in winter- not exactly ground-breaking right!”

Well, let me share with you that there’s a lot more to oats than what first meets the eye. Besides being easy to prepare, quick to make, cost effective, versatile, and so comforting when the weather is cold, they’re also packed with multiple nutrients and associated with so many health benefits. For instance, did you know that...

Eating oats can:

  • Help stabilise your blood glucose levels.
  • Help with weight management by keeping you fuller for longer.
  • Reduce cholesterol levels which can improve cardiovascular health.

I have to admit that one of the things I love most about oats is their versatility!! They are so versatile in fact, that I literally have a different flavour every day- depending on what I’m craving but also what I feel my body needs from a nutritional point of view as well.

My morning oats are literally my first thought in the morning, and I genuinely look forward to deciding what flavours and/or toppings I’m going to choose to satisfy my cravings and keep me full, nourished and energised for the rest of my day.
